All about SPS Corals
Marine corals are living creatures that have some qualities such as growth and reproduction. They are mostly found in colonies of individual polyps, and SPS corals are not an exemption.
Unlike LPS, SPS corals have small polyps on their hard-stony skeleton body. They do not flourish without the appropriate lighting – require many light levels as such from the fluorescent.
SPS Corals can range from staghorn & branching shapes to discs & flat, table corals. They have their structures covered in a thin skin of living tissue, and their skeletons are usually dense.
Generally, hobbyists believe that strong aquarium lightning is crucial to the habitat of small polyp corals. And at the same time, because they are very sensitive, you should acclimate the corals to the light level in your tank.
If you are attempting to keep SPS coral frags for the first time, know that they can be difficult to keep. The major reason is that they are more sensitive than other types of corals. So, providing a stable environment is key to ensuring their healthy state. However, if you see any signs of distress, ѕuсh аѕ loss оf соlоr or minimal polyp еxtеnѕіоn, try moving thе соrаl tо аnоthеr area of the tank.
